Northampton Athletics Club

As part of our ongoing support of Amateur Sport

We were delighted to help Northampton Athletic Club purchase some new much needed equipment for an upcoming competition for young athletes.

SPORTSHALL ATHLETICS is an indoor form of track and field for children between the ages of 4 and 16. It was created by George Bunner MBE to provide a safe and warm environment for young athletes to train during the cold and dark winter months.

Following Sportshall Athletics introduction it quickly developed into a new form of team competition and the first ever Sportshall competition took place in 1976 with the annual UK CLUBS CHAMPIONSHIPS being established in 1984.

Today Sportshall is the largest competition within the School Games framework and with an estimated user-base of well over 1 million children.

“The equipment you donated is part of about 10 equipment set that is used in the Sportshall UK Regional Finals.

Having this equipment is helping us to better prepare our young athletes for the competition in March 2025. It means they are familiar with some of the equipment they will encounter. This has not been the case in previous years.

In addition, the equipment set is useful in developing the ABCs(Agility, Balance and Coordination) skills in our athletes, which is a critical component of Foundational athletics.

It has been a very important addition to our training kit as we go through our indoor winter training away from the track. Thank you”
